Do you enjoy a nice glass of wine or to sip on some fine whiskey? If so you will want to stop by TEN10 Wine and Whiskey Bar at GoldStrike Casino Tunica. On the first Thursday of each month the bar holds a free tasting from 6-9pm. The tastings alternate monthly between wine and whiskey. In December, the tasting featured three wines, which are on the drink menu if you like them. On the night I went there were two reds and a white. There was a Frei Brothers Reserve Merlot, Louis M. Martini Cabernet Sauvignon and the Maso Canali…

Something exciting took place last weekend in Tunica and I’m not just talking about Thanksgiving and Black Friday. Last week Hollywood Casino, Resorts Casino, and Sam’s Town Tunica Casino hosted the first ever Casino Strip Presents $100,000 slot tournament. This tournament was the first of it’s kind here in Tunica and let me tell you, it was a lot of fun. Tournament play took place over two days at the three casinos with an optional early bird registration on Thanksgiving for an extra 500 points added to your score, which I took advantage of. I figured I needed all the…

We all know the true spelling of Mississippi: “M, I, crooked letter, crooked letter I, crooked letter, crooked letter I….” But now these words have another meaning as downtown Tunica welcomes the Crooked Letter Art Gallery. Recent University of Mississippi graduate Heather McGregor has high hopes for the downtown area and local artists alike as she embarks on this new venture that she has pursued at only 24 years old. McGregor graduated from the University of Mississippi in May of 2014 with two degrees, double majoring in Print Journalism as well as Art with an emphasis in Graphic Design. While…

Tunica along with the Mississippi Division of Tourism hosted a group of golf writers to the state. One of the writers, Susan Bairley writes a column on the TheAPosition.com and we wanted to share her experience here in Tunica at Tunica National Golf and Tennis as well as at the Old Waverly course in West Point, MS and how she found her True South. Cast aside any preconceived notions, and head to Mississippi to find your ‘true South.’ ‘Find Your True South’ once was the state’s tourism motto, and while it’s been replaced with a simple “Visit Mississippi,” the two…

“Nothing ever becomes real til it is experienced.” John Keats, English Poet Mississippi – the Birthplace of America’s Music! The Blues, born among the hot, humid and dusty Mississippi Delta fields makes this marketing tagline about as true and original as any that you will ever hear or read. Arguably Mississippi’s greatest export; blues music has been experienced across the airwaves on radios and televisions the world-over. Today however, millions of people from around the globe are taking the 18th century poet John Keats’ words to heart and visiting Mississippi where this truest form of experiential music was born.…

Bridging the Blues is becoming as synonymous with October as the harvest of the crops here in the Mississippi Delta. Yes, it’s that time of year. The combines and cotton pickers have been greased and readied for their work in the fields and the line-ups have been set for great live music to be found throughout the entire region. The 3rd annual music pilgrimage to the Birthplace of America’s Music has begun and Blind Mississippi Morris is back in Tunica for another great evening of live blues music. Named as one of the 10 best harmonica players in the world…

I was driving to work this morning and saw this pivot watering a filed of milo. I had to pull over and take a picture. The way the sun was hitting the water was stunning. The fields of corn, milo, soybeans, rice, wheat and cotton in Tunica are sometimes taken for granted by those of us who live here. We get caught up in the day to day and forget to stop and appreciate the area in which we live. The MS Delta is like no other. Home to the most fertile soil in the world created from centuries of…
