For crawfish lovers and music fans, an event is coming to Tunica that promises a good time.
The Rivergate Festival, an annual event held in Downtown Tunica, will be from April 16-17. Organizers say the good food and entertainment are always big draws for the festival.
“Since this is crawfish season, Crawfish Alley is one of our biggest draws,” Lyn Arnold, president and CEO of the Tunica County Chamber of Commerce said. “And for everyone, we will have bands performing on Friday night, children’s activities on Saturday, and food vendors, carnival rides, and entertainment the entire time.”
While the smell of spring fills the Downtown Tunica air, festival goers have grown to love a Rivergate Festival mainstay – Crawfish Alley. Opening Thursday afternoon, the crawfish crew will be serving the best mudbugs in the Mid-South along with margaritas and cold beer.
The bands performing on Friday night and Saturday are Crossin’ Dixon and Braden Gray. On Saturday, the children’s events range from a Tunica Idol contest to Fun Bounces to the newest addition the Tour de Tunica, a bike race.
The Rivergate Festival is free to the public. To get to Downtown Tunica, take Highway 61 South. Go 10 minutes past the casino resort area. Take a right on River Road at the Blue and White Restaurant.
