Tunica RiverPark offers interactive exhibits where children can play as they learn about Native American culture, Delta history and the wildlife found in the region.
Kids and adults alike strap on their archaeological hats for the Mound Builders interactive exhibit, a life-sized model of the burial mounds Native Americans built thousands of years ago in the Tunica area. Have fun crawling “underground” through a recreated trench, where you can see various aspects of Native American life. Inside and around the mound, you can view pottery, weapons, bone tools and other artifacts found in actual archaeological digs.
In the Wildlife Spotting interactive exhibit, you’ll learn how to blend in with your natural surroundings, with the help of a camouflaged blind made of sticks, logs and camouflage netting. Surrounded by a large nature diorama, the blind has oversized binoculars and large-lens cameras for you to get a close-up of lifelike illustrations of animals native to the Tunica area.
Visitors can also hop inside the Diving Bell Simulator with James Eads for a trip to the bottom of the Mississippi River during the steamboat era. These exhibits, along with seasonal showcases and numerous aquariums, keep children engaged while educating them about the rich history of the Mississippi Delta.
