If you missed the balloon glow at the Tunica Balloon Bash last weekend, read on to see some of the photos attendees took from the events.
High winds kept the hot air balloons on the ground for the first annual Tunica Balloon Bash, but the balloon glow was a welcoming site outside the four casino sponsor properties. While driving down a Tunica road like Highway 61, groupings of illuminated balloons were visible from the Fitz, Gold Strike, Hollywood and Horseshoe casinos on Friday night, and at Hollywood and the Fitz on Saturday night. Balloon Meister Mark Bowie likened the glowing hot air balloons to large Christmas ornaments.
Though the more than 40 hot air balloon pilots visiting Tunica were not able compete on either of the scheduled days due to high winds, they enjoyed being with their fellow balloon enthusiasts and introducing their unique sport to visitors during the two balloon glows held over the course of the weekend.
During a Tunica Balloon Bash media preview event last week, Tunica CVB President and CEO Webster Franklin flew in a hot air balloon over the Tunica skies. The photo above was from his view of Tunica from above the Casino Factory Shoppes.
