Gold Strike Casino Resort Tunica Finds a New Fan

Gold Strike Casino Resort Tunica Finds a New Fan

A few weeks ago, I decided to take a Thursday and Friday off. I needed a serious break from my demanding workload and couldn’t think of a better place to escape than Tunica! I packed a weekend bag and jumped in the car for that familiar half an hour drive. Each time I go, I stay at a different hotel. Each one is like its own separate island. The casinos are different. The atmosphere is different. The rooms are different, and the food is different, too. This time I chose to stay at the Gold Strike Casino Resort for the first time. I guess I wanted to see how lucky I could be in a place whose name suggests that fortune is found within. Plus, I had heard some pretty awesome things about the hotel rooms and restaurants.

Once I arrived, I was treated like royalty. The valet quickly approached me to handle my bags and my car. I then headed through one of the grandest lobbies I have ever seen in Tunica to check-in where the attendant behind the counter greeted me by name after locating my reservation. So far so good!

I headed up to my room. When I opened the door, it was not at all what I had expected… it was better! It was spacious, clean and super comfortable. It looked like it had been recently redesigned. Everything was trendy and, quite frankly, looked expensive. I must admit, for a second I thought the $50 per night I had spent was a mistake and that I might owe a lot more at checkout. It turns out that it was no mistake. I still can’t believe I got such a bargain on a room like that!

Food was next on my mind, so after a quick shower and a change of clothes, I headed down to Chicago Steakhouse. What can I say? I was pretty impressed. From the moment I stepped in and saw all of the wine cases and the rich, dark woods, I had a feeling these people knew steaks. My Mississippi Delta Grind Shrimp and Grits were amazing! The white cheddar and bar-b-que butter will be an instant hit with any shrimp and grits fans. I also ordered a grilled filet that was cooked to perfection. Who knew that a Tunica casino housed such a first-rate steakhouse?

I briefly made a visit to the casino floor.  Brief, that is, because once I won a pretty significant chunk of change, I decided that I would stop while I was ahead. What also drew me to Gold Strike is that this month they have been running a pretty cool Lost in the Wild promotion on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays with tons of chances to win up to $60,000 in Freeplay® and one of two Land Rover L4s. I didn’t win a car, but I did have a blast! I’m looking forward to my next getaway. Who knows which casino I will find myself in next!
